My very first studio project was to design a Doric aedicule to be placed on the south façade of the Academy of Sciences building in Chicago's Lincoln Park.  Programmatically, the Academy of Sciences building was to become the library of a new academy for the Lincoln Foundation, an organization which promotes education and leadership training for disadvantaged students.  The aedicule was to house a small-scale replica of Daniel French's sculpture for the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C.  Drawn as an analytique, my design for a limestone Doric aedicule to match the stone of the existing building sheltered a bronze statue of Lincoln,  sat over a granite fountain, and was flanked by two engaged Ionic columns.
